Ukulele Lessons at the Groove Shack

If you’re thinking of taking ukulele lessons at the Groove Shack you’re not alone. The instrument has exploded in popularity over the past decade thanks to its use in Disney films, and youtube cover videos. But did you know that the ukulele was actually developed in Hawaii in the 19th century? It was brought over by Portuguese immigrants and exploded in popularity throughout the islands. The ukulele is a descendant of a stringed instrument from Europe called the Lute, which actually shares a common ancestry with the acoustic and electric guitars. The uke is great for many reasons: it’s easy to carry, great for small hands, and is low in volume as it’s primarily used as an acoustic instrument. If you can’t decide between the ukulele and the guitar, we recommend trying both out in your first lesson before you purchase one!
